6th anniversary celebrations and progress towards full maternity services

As we celebrate six years since the clinic opened in May 2019, we would like to thank all those who have supported Mission Rwentobo financially and in prayer to enable the clinic to become a centre of hope and transformation.  Where there was only a small, ill equipped sick bay for the children of World Shine Primary School in 2016, there is now a large community clinic providing for the health needs of three local schools and many families under the care of the Kisiizi Health Cooperative insurance scheme.  God's love for the community is demonstrated daily by a wonderful clinic team who go the extra mile to ensure people are well cared for on a daily basis.  They were grateful to receive a small gift each and to celebrate the 6th Anniversary with a cake and a lunchtime party.  We congratulate Clinical Officer, Helen, who was nominated "Employee of the year."

We have much to thank God for:

  • Monthly donations to Mission Rwentobo have increased so that we are now more able to cover the excess costs of running the clinic in an area where people are unable to cover full fees.
  • Fibre WiFi has now been installed at the clinic to enable better use of the Stre@mline software to record the patient journey and share details with Kisiizi Hospital for finances and ongoing care.
  • Junior midwife, Damary, has been trained to use the ultrasound scanner so that she can monitor antenatal patients while the senior midwife, Brenda is on maternity leave from later this month.
  • We received a very generous donation which will enable the construction of the infrastructure for extended maternity services to commence later this month.
  • Thanks to another generous donation, we will be able to send funds over towards the cost of essential equipment and furniture for the maternity ward and delivery room.

Please join us in praying for the following:

  • For Engineer Selezio and his team as they start work on the placenta pit, incinerator, ash pit, storage shed, fencing and walkways outside the clinic.  That the site will remain safe and work will not be held back too much by the rains.
  • For guidance for Mission Rwentobo trustees as funds are allocated for equipment and furniture and for the procurement process in Uganda to run smoothly.
  • For midwife Brenda as she prepares for the birth of her first baby - for safe delivery and good health and bonding for Mummy and baby during her three months maternity leave..
  • Clinical Officer Julius, Nurse Martha and Nurse Sharon are all being sponsored to upgrade their skills and knowledge so that they can better serve the clinic.  Please pray for them as they sit exams this month.

During May and June, I will be giving short presentations, with help from my husband Mick,  about the work of the clinic and would appreciate your prayers.

  • Wednesday 14th May - Assembly for senior boys at New Beacon School
  • Sunday 18th May - taking part in the morning service at Christ Church United Reformed Church in Tonbridge from 10.00am.  All are welcome to attend.
  • Evening of Sunday 18th May, to young people at Tonbridge Baptist Church.
  • Thursday 5th June, 10am - to the Thursday morning small group at Tonbridge Baptist Church.

It is always a pleasure to share how God is at work at Hope Community Clinic in Uganda, so if you would like me to talk to a group that you are involved with, do get in touch.
