Giving thanks for recent blessings

All at Hope Community Clinic send their greetings and thanks for the many recent blessings.  In early October, Benson Mugyenyi, who is one of the Mission Rwentobo trustees, visited the clinic with his wife, Margaret.  Although the labour and maternity wards was not yet fully equipped, a maternity bed and baby crib were in place and Benson and Margaret were able to share a pre-opening ceremony with the clinic team.  This was a great encouragement to all of us.

Benson and Margaret cut the ribbon to the labour ward

In September Brionne Haselden, shown on the right above, did the Tonbridge walking marathon to raise funds for this delivery couch and for an oxygen compressor.

Last week. the baby resuscitaire, baby scales and other equipment, funded by generous donations to Mission Rwentobo, were delivered and installed during a supervision visit from the Kisiizi Hospital team..  Below, you can see a large vaccine fridge which was provided to the clinic by the Ministry of Health along with 3 extra solar panels to provide the power required.  This enabled the clinic to store enough vaccines for the team to take part in the October government immunistation campaign in local schools.

Please pray for:

  • The final preparations for full maternity services to progress well so that the clinic is able to pass inspection by the District Health Officer in November.
  • Team changes: Julius, the current Clinical Officer in charge, has decided to move to a government clinic in Rukungiri in the new year. In the meantime, he is mentoring Helen, the other clinical officer to take on his leadership responsibilities.  A new clinical officer will be joining the team in November, following an induction period at Kisiizi Hospital.  Brenda, the senior midwife has now returned from maternity leave and is very excited about the developments towards full maternity care.  Nurse Aid, Diana, has left the clinic to do nurse training at Kisiizi Hospital.  Shafrah, who covered for Brenda's maternity leave, will be kept on to fill this gap after spending some time at Kisiizi Hospital in order to increase her experience in delivering babies.  Please pray for the whole team as they adapt to these changes and to the new duties which will be expected from them.

The annual event to celebrate the work of Kisiizi Hospital and partners, including Hope Community Clinic, will take place in Reading on 8th November.  This is always a great time to learn about the many ways in which God is at work in this remote part of Uganda. Mission Rwentobo will be sharing a short presentation about progress in 2025 and all are welcome to attend. Please let me know if you are interested and wish to car share.
